Be realistic in your home search. If your expectations don't match the market, I really can't help you. Some towns in the Greater Danbury area are considerably more expensive than others. There is a difference in commuting time to New York City as well. Not all towns offer the same types of potential homes. A price of a small condo in one town can get you a pretty average home in another. A price of a move up townhouse in one town may not even get you into a modest single family as another. Each town as it's own feel in terms of density, recreational opportunities and commercial services.
A difference of just a few miles in Greater Danbury can completely alter a homebuyer's reality. From property tax rates and land use rules to utility access and local regulations, crossing a town line—or even a neighborhood boundary—changes far more than just a zip code.
